This is going to be the strongest storm ever. It’s going to get stronger as it goes too and probably be at its best and most accurate late in the year.

TLDR: AIs are now ***better than human experts*** at choosing which experiments to run Experimental research taste of frontier models has DOUBLED every 3 MONTHS since December 2025. AIs will soon be fully in control of building their successors

The image is a line chart titled "AI's research taste just passed human experts," plotting Experimental Research Taste (Compute Multiplier) against Release Date from 2024 through 2026. It shows frontier models like GPT-4, GPT-4o, o1, o3, GPT-5.2, Opus 4.8, GPT-6 Astra, Fable 5.1, GLM 5.3, and Opus 5.5 climbing from near 0x to over 2x, crossing the human expert baseline (1x dashed line) around early 2026 with Opus 5.5 at ~2.30x.

This visualization directly supports the post's claim—after remaining well below human researchers throughout 2024–2025, AI experimental research taste has doubled roughly every three months since December 2025, surpassing human experts in early 2026 and suggesting AIs are on track to autonomously guide their own development.

From Papalote Museo del Niño, we inaugurate the Mexico Action Week for Climate and Nature 2026. This gathering brings together specialists, authorities, companies, and civil society to dialogue and promote actions in the face of climate and environmental challenges.

Three women sit together at an indoor event, with the central older woman wearing a dark blazer over a colorful scarf reading from documents, while a younger woman with long dark hair and sunglasses on her head takes notes beside her, and a woman in a cream blazer and pink patterned blouse sits attentively to the right. The scene reflects the inaugural Mexico Action Week for Climate and Nature 2026 at Papalote Museo del Niño, where specialists and authorities gather to dialogue on environmental challenges.

Have you ever seen a very flashing star in autumn? Every star has the potential to flash colorfully, but some #stars are definitely much flashier than others. And it so happens that there are 3 bright stars shining in October skies! buff.ly/pb5CWfN I. Cibulsky/Pexels.

The funniest thing about my tiny gander at this paper is that it is a very analysis-y proof compared to, e.g., Deligne's proof of the finite field RH in 1974 It does feel like all the arithmetic geometry people must be a bit sad to see that complex analysis likely wins the day

When galaxies collide, the stars almost never hit each other. Space is that empty. Gravity does all the damage: tides pull out long tails and bridges. I built a 262k star simulator of it, based on Toomre & Toomre (1972). Built with Opus 5.5 using Three.js and Blender.
